چکیده

Abstract The recent results of the BICEP and Keck collaborations have put stringent bounds on many inflationary models, including some well-motivated ones. This is certainly case when gravity remains described by Einstein's theory up to scale, but can be avoided introducing quadratic-in-curvature terms that are effective at scale. Recently it has also been shown these UV complete respecting stability unitarity. Here predictions such quadratic computed compared with BICEP/Keck constraints focusing scenarios best-motivated from particle physics point view already ruled out in Einstein gravity: (critical) Higgs inflation natural inflation. first scenario considered as most economical option inflaton identified only known elementary scalar field Standard Model near criticality used remain perturbative regime. In second one a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson contributes dynamics its potential naturally flat. It both restore agreement observational gravity.

Quadratic metric-affine gravity

We consider spacetime to be a connected real 4-manifold equipped with a Lorentzian metric and an affine connection. The 10 independent components of the (symmetric) metric tensor and the 64 connection coefficients are the unknowns of our theory. We introduce an action which is quadratic in curvature and study the resulting system of Euler–Lagrange equations. In the first part of the paper we lo...

3D gravity data-space inversion with sparseness and bound constraints

One of the most remarkable basis of the gravity data inversion is the recognition of sharp boundaries between an ore body and its host rocks during the interpretation step. Therefore, in this work, it is attempted to develop an inversion approach to determine a 3D density distribution that produces a given gravity anomaly. The subsurface model consists of a 3D rectangular prisms of known sizes ...

Stable Isotropic Cosmological Singularities in Quadratic Gravity

We show that, in quadratic lagrangian theories of gravity, isotropic cosmological singularities are stable to the presence of small scalar, vector and tensor inhomogeneities. Unlike in general relativity, a particular exact isotropic solution is shown to be the stable attractor on approach to the initial cosmological singularity. This solution is also known to act as an attractor in Bianchi uni...

Exact Relation between Einstein and Quadratic Quantum Gravity

We show the exact equality of the path integral of the general renormalizable fourth order gravitational action to the path integral of the Einstein action coupled to a massive spin-0 field and a massive spin-2 ghost-like field with non-polynomial interactions. The metric in the Einstein version is a highly nonlinear function of the metric in the quadratic version. Both massive excitations are ...

Quadratic Lagrangians and Topology in Gauge Theory Gravity

We consider topological contributions to the action integral in a gauge theory formulation of gravity. Two topological invariants are found and are shown to arise from the scalar and pseudoscalar parts of a single integral. Neither of these action integrals contribute to the classical field equations. An identity is found for the invariants that is valid for non-symmetric Riemann tensors, gener...
